Overcoming Addiction * Lesson 2 * Questions for Lesson 2
 Lesson 2 - Questions

Principle 1
1. What is the purpose of this lesson? What will it accomplish if allowed to complete its work?

2. In the list of the obvious acts, works, or deeds of the sinful nature, otherwise known as the flesh, which of these can you most identify with? List them. What have you done to try to control them?

3. If you have a god of your own understanding, what are you controlled by: the Spirit of God or your sinful nature?

4. What function does the conscience perform within you? What causes you to realize you have a problem?

5. (Principle 2) You have the ability and free will to believe in a variety of things and there are many different beliefs and an abundance of gods in this world to believe in. Belief in God though is much more that just being intellectual. Why did Jesus tell you that there was only one way to God and what was it?

6. If you didn’t have any choice in your original birth, isn’t it a wonder that you do in your second? Jesus told you that you had the power to give birth to flesh but only the Spirit had the ability to give birth to the Spirit. What does this say about your ability to understand God? See Romans 8:5-8; 1 Corinthians 2:14.

7. (Principle 3) Why does it take a decision and the exercising of your will to turn your life over to Jesus Christ? Why doesn’t Jesus just force Himself into your heart?

8. In John 3:36 you are told that if you believe in Jesus Christ as the one and only begotten Son, you will have and be given everlasting life. Why is faith the key and not your works?

9. How are you transformed into “overcomers”?

10. How does a seed illustrate for you your lack of control or ability to change yourself?
