Overcoming Addiction * Lesson 4 * Principle 6
 Lesson 4 - Principle 6

I BECOME ENTIRELY READY AND WILLING TO HAVE GOD BEGIN THE PROCESS OF REMOVING ALL OF THE HABITUAL SINS IN MY LIFE. I REALIZE THAT THIS PROCESS WILL SOMETIMES BE PAINFUL AND TRYING, BUT WITH HIS HELP AND HIS WILL WORKING IN ME TO CONFORM ME TO HIS IMAGE, I KNOW WITH FULL CONFIDENCE HE WILL COMPLETE THIS WORK FULLY.

By the time I reach Principle 6, my heart has been sensitized to my sin and a true desire to be holy has developed. This is because of God’s glorious work and faithfulness to His Word. My conscience is beginning to be healed from being beaten down or nearly cut off because of my lifestyle of lies and hypocrisy (1 Timothy 4:1-2, Hebrews 9:14). There will also be a certain amount of fruit evident and a willingness and zeal apparent in my life when I reach this point.

I have made this decision and commitment to turn from the things of my past. This includes the memories and old ideas that caused me to stumble (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) and the philosophies of the world that have clouded the truth of God’s Word. The fruit that is evident is shown by my faithfulness to follow through with the footwork of allowing God to search me and try my way. It is also evident by my confession to another person whom God has blessed me with by putting this person in my life to stand beside me and disciple me. I see the ever-fervent love God has for me by His continued discipline, faithfulness, and commitment to show me a new way of life. Ezekiel 36:27 is certainly true because His Spirit is causing me to love and follow His decrees (Psalms 119:15-18, 47-48, 57, 63, 67, 71, 92, 103-104, 133, 140, 142, 161-163, 165).

As we see the results that come from being obedient to do the preceding principles, we are now ready to proceed on to the next with hearts full of hope and joy.
