Overcoming Addiction * Lesson 4 * The Revelation
 Lesson 4 - The Revelation

We see what our true healing was and where it took place. It was healing for our souls, not our physical nature. He bore our sins in His own body on the cross. Our healing made way for our ability to obey and be conformed to His image. It broke the chains of rebellion and stubbornness and made way for humbleness and brokenness.

Hebrews 4:13-16 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Here is the reason we need to become entirely ready and willing to have God remove all our habitual sins. We read that all things are naked and open before His eyes. All will give an account before Him, and none will escape this moment. We know that it is impossible for God to forget, and there must be a reckoning of all accounts, whether good or bad. We see that Jesus is our great High Priest, and He has gone up through the heavens. He became our point man or trailblazer, as it were, so that we could have passage to His Father. We need to hold fast our confession; we need to rest being assured and confident of what He has done. We will tell others of this by our life and words.

Also note that Jesus was tempted just as we are in every way. This doesn’t mean in every circumstance but that all sin has a root, type, or scheme. These are found in 1 John 2:15-16, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.” Satan used these same tactics during the temptations against the LORD.

The wonderful truth is that we can come to the throne of grace anytime we need to because of our relationship. Notice what we get when we do—mercy and grace in our time of need. Mercy and grace are limitless, and they are usually the first two things we resist the most when we are in the flesh.
